Westport resident Ken Wilson (the person responsible for creating the winery’s first geocache ten years ago) and his geocache compatriot Rick Stoddard, designed this new online search. The cache is titled “A Stroll Through The Gardens.”Established in 2000, geocaching is known as the world’s largest treasure hunt, with over 3 million geocache sites in 190 countries around the world. There are over 500 treasure sites in Grays Harbor County and environs. Searchers use Global Positioning System (GPS) to locate and hide the caches. The search may include clues, puzzles, and multiple steps to find the location. The treasures are usually sealed in a waterproof container. Those who search log in their finds. They can take prizes or trinkets from each cache but they need to leave something of equal or greater value for the next persistent player to discover.Westport Winery Seaside received the 2019 Rising Star Award from the Seaside Chamber of Commerce.
