Panelo on latest survey: Filipinos can see beyond ‘endless politicking’

first_imgManila – The administrations “very good” net satisfaction rating showedpeople’s acknowledgement of President Rodrigo Duterte’s “genuine empathy,transparency and decisiveness,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said. Panelo added the recent Social WeatherStations’ (SWS) survey reflected how Filipinos can see beyond the opposition’s“endless politicking.” “He (Duterte) could not care lessabout these scores because for him, the true measure of proper governance andpublic service is accomplishing the job entrusted to him by the electoratewithout expecting any reward for it,” he added. Based on the recent SWS surveyresults, 78 percent of adult Filipinos are satisfied with the Duterteadministration’s performance where it scored a net satisfaction rating of +67(very good), which is six points lower than the +73 (excellent) in June 2019. “The rating, classified by theindependent pollster as ‘very good,’ demonstrates that a significant number ofour countrymen possesses discernment that can stand and see beyond the endlesspoliticking managed by the opposition, as well as the rhetorical aspersionspeddled by President (Rodrigo Duterte’s) detractors, critics and skeptics,”Panelo said. The survey also showed the Duterteadministration was “very good” in helping the poor; in providing informationneeded by the citizens to properly examine what the government is doing; and inhaving clear policies, are the highest thereby signifying their acknowledgementof the President’s genuine empathy, transparency and decisiveness. It was “good” on fighting terrorism,developing a healthy economy, protecting the freedom of the press, actingaccording to what the people want, fighting crimes that victimize ordinarycitizens – like killings, holdups, robberies, physical violence, etc. –reconciliation with Muslim rebels, foreign relations, reconciliation withcommunist rebels, eradicating graft and corruption in government, recoveringill-gotten wealth of former President Ferdinand Marcos and his cronies anddefending the Philippine sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea. It was “moderate” on ensuring that nofamily will ever be hungry and have nothing to eat; and “neutral” on fightinginflation.  The SWS survey was conducted fromSept. 27 to 30 using face-to-face interviews of 1,800 adults nationwide./PNlast_img
