Prime MInister and Finance Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit. Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Roosevelt Skerrit will on Tuesday, 17th July, 2012, present a $437.6 million budget when Parliament when it meets for the First Meeting of the Third Session of the Eighth Parliament at the House of Assembly in Roseau.Mr. Skerrit will seek parliamentary approval for estimates of expenditure for the financial year ending June 30, 2012 amounting to four hundred and forty million, three hundred and thirty seven thousand, six hundred and twenty eighty thousand Eastern Caribbean dollars (EC$437.628.018).During that session, Mr Skerrit will also seek Parliamentary approval to borrow and guarantee by means of a fluctuating overdraft, a sum not exceeding in the aggregate of thirty-six million, five hundred thousand dollars (EC$36,500,000) from approved financial institutions to meet central government’s current overdraft requirements and to guarantee overdrafts to statutory boards and public corporations for a further period of one year, commencing from the 1st day of July, 2012.The Director of Audit’s report on the Audit of the Public Accounts for the Fiscal Year ended June 30, 2010, will also be tabled in Parliament during this session.Mr. Skerrit is also expected to present the third Medium-Term Growth and Social Protection Strategy (GSPS) as well as the Economic and Social Review for fiscal year 2011/2012.Minister for Lands, Housing, Settlements and Water Resource Management, Reginald Austrie, is expected to present the 2011Annual Report and Statement of Accounts of the Dominica Social Security, while Minister for Education and Human Resource Development, Petter Saint Jean will present the audited statement of Receipts and Payments in respect of the Education Trust Fund for the period 1st January, 2010 to 31st December 2010.President of Dominica, Dr. Nicholas J.O Liverpool, will also address the parliamentary session.Dominica Vibes Newslast_img
